Camaro brakes feel weak after track day, what should I replace?
#1
Two weekends ago I took my Chevrolet Camaro to a few fast laps at a track day, and since then the brake pedal feels longer and the car does not stop as sharply as before. There is also a light shake in the steering wheel when I brake from highway speed. I live in Dubai, and the car has about forty five thousand kilometres. A friend says the pads are probably cooked and the discs may be warped from the heat. Another friend says I should only change the brake fluid, because hard use can make it boil and leave the pedal soft. I looked online for a Best Chevrolet Camaro brake pad replacement in Dubai, but every page said the same thing, so I still do not know what a proper job includes. Should the shop check the pads, discs and fluid together? Are performance pads better for a Camaro, or do normal ones last longer on the road? Do pads and discs have to be matched? Is it safe to drive to work for a few days with a softer pedal? How long does the job take, and what should it cost on a Camaro? Is it normal to ask for the old pads back? If you have a Camaro or a similar car and had this problem, please tell me what the cause was, what you paid, and what you would do differently. Easy answers help me most.
