How do I transfer IMAP emails to another computer without losing important data?
#1
Adding an IMAP account to a new computer usually synchronizes messages available on the server, but locally stored data and certain folders may require additional attention. Before switching systems, review your old email client's synchronization settings and identify any messages that exist only locally.
You can export important emails using the application's built-in features or save them in a compatible format such as MBOX or EML. After transferring the files, check several messages, attachments, and folders to confirm that everything is accessible.
Creating a separate backup before changing computers provides an additional layer of protection. A CigatiĀ IMAP Backup Tool may also be useful if you need to save a large mailbox for future reference.
