I'm starting to get really worried about my car and I'm hoping someone here has experienced something similar because my regular mechanic is stumped. I drive a 2014 Alfa Romeo Giulietta that I absolutely love, it's fun to drive and looks beautiful, but something has been bothering me for the past couple of months. Whenever I take the car on a longer drive, say more than 30 or 40 minutes on the highway, I start to notice a strong smell of burning oil coming into the cabin. It doesn't happen on short trips around the city, only when the engine has been running for a while at higher speeds. I've checked the oil level and it seems fine, maybe down just a tiny bit but nothing dramatic. I took it to a local garage and the mechanic looked around with a flashlight but said he couldn't see any obvious oil leaks. He suggested maybe a valve cover gasket is starting to seep, but he wasn't sure. The problem is that he doesn't work on many Italian cars and I think he's hesitant to start taking things apart. I've been searching online for a specialist who knows Alfa Romeos well because these cars have their own quirks and I don't want someone learning on my engine.
